Northern Railway Cancels 25 Trains Due to Delhi Protest in 2026

In view of a planned public protest and subsequent traffic advisory issued in Central Delhi, Northern Railway has decided to cancel 25 major trains. These safety-driven disruptions will primarily impact train operations starting from 9th October 2026 and extending through 10th October 2026, specifically targeting services running between 04:00 hrs and 14:00 hrs. Passengers are advised to plan alternative travel routes.

  • Reason for Cancellations: Due to a scheduled public protest and demonstration in Central Delhi, a high-security traffic advisory has been implemented on 10th October 2026 between 04:00 hrs and 14:00 hrs, preventing the safe passage of trains.
  • Terminal Impacts: Major train services terminating at or originating from New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Tilak Bridge railway stations are fully cancelled.
  • Lack of Rakes (Rake Shortage): Trains like 12963, 14738, and 14728 have been cancelled due to the unavailability of matching rakes from delayed incoming journeys.
  • Refund Process: Passengers will get a 100% automatic refund for online e-tickets. Counter-booked ticket holders should visit their nearest computerized passenger reservation system (PRS) to claim their refunds within the standard timelines.
  • Alternative Routes: Commuters are advised to utilize metro services or alternate road transport systems while planning travel into Central Delhi during the protest hours.
